Hello fellow beach goers! If you love heading down to the beach in nice weather as much as I do, here are a few tips to make it easier on you. I hope you enjoy the read and feel free to call me if you need anything!

The first thing to keep in mind is preparation. Make sure you have everything you need before you get to the beach.  Whether you’re going down for a quick day trip or a long weekend, leave plenty of time for packing and prep.  One of my favorites to throw in the cooler is PB&J’s.  They stay good all day on top of the ice, are quick to grab and act as an insulator.  Fruit, this is a staple in the cooler, grapes are the easiest requiring almost no prep but I also love having pineapple and watermelon.  They are also a great source of liquid when you start getting a little dehydrated and also go great in those adult drinks, not that you bring those down with you!  Some other really great ideas are “dry” sandwiches, just leave off the dressing and they’ll be fine in a ziplock.  I also like to bring quick snacks that are easy grab and goes, chips and pretzels are always really fast.

Water – lots of it!! You are going to be enjoying fun in the sun all day and you are going to get dehydrated.  Try freezing a couple bottles and throwing them in the cooler.  They keep everything cold without the hassle of ice packs and when you need a cold sip they’ll be ready for you.  I also like to bring down water in an igloo cooler to wash off my hands before I start getting into my snacks.

Now that your cooler is ready it’s time to start thinking about everything else.  Beach chairs, towels, umbrella, hats, boards and of course sun block.  It’s not enough to apply one layer of protection before you head down.  My mother always had us putting on block after getting out of the water and it’s a habit that has stuck with me.  I would apply about every 2-3 hours depending on how long you are staying out in the sun or depending on how often you are out in the water.  Even though most modern sun blocks are waterproof and sweat proof, it’s a good idea to get in the habit of protecting yourself more often.

There’s other odds and ends that I’m sure you bring with you but making sure you have everything ready before you go makes it much easier to enjoy the time while you’re down there.  After all, that is the whole reason we go right?  Enjoy the sun and sand all!
